Meet Cristina Diaz
Cristina is a native Houstonian raised in both Houston, TX and in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Her parents are both from Mexico; her father from the state of Jalisco and her mother from Nuevo Leon. She converted to Islam in the summer of 2008 at El Farouq Masjid after meeting a group of Latina Muslims that are still active in the Houston community.
Cristina officially began working in non-profit soon after helping survivors of Hurricane Ike in Galveston, TX and has sustained her profession of helping others through non-profit work since then. Cristina currently works for ICNA Relief USA, and is now to assist survivors of Hurricane Harvey.
She is married to Abdur Rehman Badat and has two daughters, Aliyah who is 3 and Aasiya who was born in July of this year.
In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends at different "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants that make Houston unique and rediscovering animated childhood movies with her three-year-old.
